How do you define victory?

It’s a word that means different things to different people but, as the dictionary would tell you, it is a word meant to denote achievement. While the meaning of victory is different to each individual, the feeling is universal – victory feels good.

At the University of Florida we have a tradition of winning and feeling good throughout the athletic program. On the gridiron, courts, fields, diamonds and in the classroom, the Florida Gators have always cultivated and helped develop excellence. Gator athletes inspire others every day by their hard work, perseverance and determination. By their work in the community and their amplification of local charities through Florida Victorious. By their victories.

Victory can be the thrill of winning a competition, that fills all of us with energy and the pride of being a Gator. Victory can also be seeing a room full of elementary school children light up with Florida Gator student-athletes walk into their classrooms, or the smiles on people’s faces when a student-athlete serves them food or helps hand them the keys to their new house. The impact Florida Victorious and Gator student-athletes are making in the community is a victory for the student-athletes, their supporters, those the charities serve and Gainesville.

Florida Victorious athletes have started their own foundations and their own businesses. They have been inspired enough by their experiences to give back more than is asked of them because they see the difference they are making. This is victory.

This is a lasting impact which would not be possible without our members, sponsors and donors. We have had put a large focus on our donors throughout the relatively short life of our organization and we realize the need to make our members feel as important as we feel they are to our organization and to the University of Florida. We celebrate the coaches, the athletes and the victories. Now, we want to celebrate YOU.

Today, we are launching a new, revamped website which is centered around content — for you. We will use our access to the student-athletes to bring you inside the locker rooms and the programs that make the Florida Gators great. No matter where you are cheering on the Gators from, we aim to make our site your home for Florida Gators news — we are the only fan site that helps the Florida Gators win, and we can’t be victorious without your support.

While these victories are important and extremely impactful, make no doubt about it – victory is also about winning in competition. We are the Florida Gators and we expect to win on the field of play. You can help us do that like never before. Help us define victory.
