Chief Revenue Officer Erick Reasoner steps into CEO role as Nate Barbera transitions to Vice Chairman
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Victorious is announcing the promotion of Erick Reasoner to the role of CEO, effective February 3rd.  The current CEO, Nate Barbera, will become Vice Chairman, and Jose Costa will remain as the Chairman of Florida Victorious.  The transition has been underway for some time, but Barbera stayed in the role through January to ensure a successful recruiting and transfer portal class before making the formal change.  In his new role as Vice Chairman, Barbera will continue to be involved in strategic decision-making for Florida Victorious.
“I’m incredibly proud of and grateful for the job that Nate has done leading Florida Victorious since our inception,” Florida Victorious Founder and Chairman, Jose Costa said. “He has guided our organization and helped make Florida Victorious one of the premier collectives in all of college athletics. We’re confident Erick will be able to make this transition seamless and continue to lead our organization into the future.”
Florida Gators Head Football Coach, Billy Napier, added “Congratulations to both Nate and Erick on their new and well-deserved roles at Florida Victorious. I look forward to their continued work with not only our football student-athletes but all of our terrific Gator teams.”
Reasoner joined Florida Victorious in March of 2023 as the Director of Development. Since taking over the Florida Victorious Foundation, contributions have gone up 728%. Under Reasoner’s direction, the Florida Victorious Foundation has grown total contributions each quarter, resulting in record years in both 2023 and 2024.
Reasoner was promoted to Chief Revenue Officer in October of 2024. In the new role, signed sponsorships increased by 243%, while monthly membership revenue has also grown by 8.1%. During this time, Reasoner has completed the hiring of Bri Wade as Vice President of Marketing and Nick de la Torre as Director of Content.
Reasoner has worked in college athletics for nearly two decades. After graduation, Reasoner earned a Master’s degree at Florida, where he worked with Gator Boosters. He completed stops at Tulane, Auburn, and Stetson before finding his way back to Gainesville as the Director of Development of Gator Boosters for four years. There he was part of the Gator Boosters leadership team from 2016 to 2020. Reasoner was named the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Georgia Southern in 2020, running the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation while overseeing the Baseball and Men’s Golf programs. When Reasoner arrived at Georgia Southern, the Eagles had raised $3 million in the previous year. By his second year running the foundation, Reasoner’s team built that up to almost $11 million, securing a total of $17 million in commitments and annual gifts during his time at the school, breaking all previous fundraising records for Georgia Southern Athletics.
“I am extremely grateful to Jose and Nate for giving me this opportunity! Under Nate’s amazing leadership we have built one of the top organizations in the country and I, along with our team, look forward to building on the foundation he has laid,” Reasoner said. “Gator Nation has really shown their support and we are excited about getting even more people onboard. We have some exciting announcements on the horizon!”
As one of the nation’s leading collectives, Reasoner’s background will ensure that Florida Victorious not only navigates but also stays ahead of the constantly changing landscape of both college athletics and NIL.
